The Rising Concern of Meth Addiction Among Young Adults



 How much of the risks of Meth dependency does your teen know about?

 Are your teens and their friends already addicted to Meth?

Meth or Methamphetamine has become one of the most notorious addictive illegal substance available today. Worse, this notoriously addictivesubstance has continued to increase in popularity among young teens in the country over the past few years. Several theories abound about what could be causing this, most are based on what the teens frequently feel, which includes:

  •  Anxiety
  •  Low Self-Esteem
  •  Depression
  •  Loneliness or Fear of Rejection
  •  Family problems
  •  Pressure from peers

Throughout adolescent years, young people go through many life-changing experiences. Sadly, most of the adults in the teens life may brush off some serious issues as minor or insignificant. To a teen, what may seem a big deal could be regarded as nothing to adults. Middle school and high school can be difficult times for youngsters as their senses and thoughts are being shoved to the limits almost every day.Problems that don't look too important like gossip or teasing may be taken to heart leading to severe consequences. It is because of this lack of understanding of what they passing through or unavailable support from adults that most teens take to meth.

These days meth is becoming the preferred drug forteenagers. Initially, Marijuana appeared to be the drug choice for youngsters. it was affordable and could offer a high not as intense as other drugs. Eventually marijuana became a gateway drug for several young people, giving them the chance to branch out into some other drugs like Meth without undergoing the effects of first time use. Meth gradually began to take the lead in abused drugs, offering a much stronger higher which lasted longer than marijuana while costing less than other drugs like cocaine and heroine. Many young people who have used it, reported feeling invincible, like a super hero. There's a false sense of control that Meth gives, making it hard for others to convince against using. Specifically, meth has been branded by teens as a party drug,  often used when they get together at parties. It is likely that teens believe the meth increases the excitement. Currently, meth labs abound all over and it is getting cheaper to make. In fact, meth is now more readily available to teens that most adults believe. This has resulted in the prevalent outbreak of meth abuse among young people.

The Serious Hazards of Meth Abuse

To fully understand the harmful effect of meth, it is important to understand how it specifically impacts the body. Meth abuse, even in small quantity, causes irreparable brain damage. It also  causes life long concerns such as insomnia, anxiety, paranoia and breathing difficulties. More disastrous is the difficulty in treating Meth addiction today. A teenager becoming hooked to meth could be flirting with not just a hazard but something fatal. Meth addiction is almost assuredly a death sentence. severe illness and death is no longer probable but a certainty. The only question is when. The best you can do for the youngsters in your life is to ensure they are properly informed about the side effects and risks they face if they take to meth. Meth abuse and addiction cannot be neglected or not talked about. Education is the best way of helping people avoid such deadly lifestyle. sometimes, there may be the concern of youngsters being too young to hear and understand the full implications of drug abuse and addiction, most especially of meth. However it is your duty to ensure that youngsters in your life are well educated about drug abuse and completely understand the dangers they face if they assume this unhealthy lifestyle. do not always rely on schools or programs to give them this knowledge as it may not be sufficient.

As parents, you wield the greatest influence in the life of your children and their friends. even when they may not fully grasp what you are saying, be persistent in educating them about the hazards as early as possible. the dangers of meth are real and serious. Education is the best prevention.
